The Church, Part 11 – Acts 8:4-25
How do your motives move your heart?
Questions:
- What stood out to you in the message?
- Who was your childhood hero? What ability or talents did they possess that you wanted for yourself? Why?
- How does Simon’s response to the Apostles in Acts 8:18-19 demonstrate his misunderstanding of what it means to follow Jesus?
- What preconceived notions or prejudices have hindered your own growth in Jesus? How have they hindered you?
- Pastor Chad said that we have nothing to offer Jesus. Our good works are like filthy rags compared to His righteousness (Isaiah 64:6). What do you think about this statement? How should this impact your motives and intentions for following Jesus?
- Pastor Chad’s Big Idea was, “The heart of the problem is a problem with the heart.” What is your motive for following Jesus? In other words, what is the reason that you continue following Him?
- What are your motives and intentions that are not aligned to Jesus’ motives and intentions? How are they not aligned? What needs to change?
