Church and Culture Part 2, Daniel 1:1-7
Chad Murrell   -

Do you know how Jesus wants you to live in today’s world?

Daniel 1:1-7

Questions:

1. What stood out to you in the message?

2. Is there a story behind your given name or a nickname? What nicknames have you been given? Which one(s) did you like or dislike? Why?

3. What governmental pressures did Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah resist? Why did they resist those pressures and not others?

4. Pastor Chad challenged us to not confuse what you don’t like with what God forbids. What are some issues that are confused in this way in today’s church? In your own life?

5. What message do we send to the unbelieving world when we live quietly (1 Thess. 4:11-12) and willingly suffer with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:13-17)? How does this work toward leading every generation to the life-changing hope of Jesus?

6. How much are you willing to risk in order to obey a clear commandment of God? What issues would be “deal-breakers” for obeying how God commands you to live (i.e. Constitutional issues/freedoms, personal freedom, personal safety, financial security, reputation, career, etc.)?

7. When in your life have you experienced God in the midst of a “lion’s den” of skeptics, critics, etc.? How has God alone been your lifeline?
